This workshop focuses on creativity and learning skills which can be used in the world of theater or in daily life. Ed helps children to understand the process by which an actor or comedian uses his or her natural talents and further develops these abilities into acting skills. A few examples of the activities that children will participate in are: how to create simple characters, acting out a two-minute play in different ways, simple mime and movement exercises, a walk through imaginary spaces and how to work and play in rhythm with others. Basic elements of acting will be touched on and questions that youngsters may have about acting will be explored and “answered by doing.” Subjects for thought will include: “Is acting pretending”, “How do I show how I feel,” and “How can I be funny?” Ed has taught many workshops in clowning, acting and creative dramatics with “Creative Arts for Kids” in Reading, MA, The Providence Circus School, The Open Air Circus in Somerville, MA, Camp Keewaydin in Salisbury, VT and multiple single workshops for several clubs and organizations.
